Yes, and they’ve gone relatively unappreciated too, meaning they’re cheap. The e39 M sport cars are getting pricey and these things really aren’t that much bigger in non-L trim.

See, I wouldn’t agree with that statement. A lot of the time, especially with BMW, you can get 90%+ of the performance and about a third of the maintenance costs by going with the top tier M-Sport package 5 series. The E60 550i is a good example of this especially when you look at what a nightmare the V10 in the M5…
