The tC falling short of the Celica in performance may be a disappointment, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t fill the same role of sporty FWD liftback. It was heavier - every car got heavier. The 1ZZ Celica was quick enough to be fun, but hardly the firecracker the 2ZZ was. 

When the FRS came out it was still a Scion, so I guess it needed a weird Scion-y name. At that point, the tC was still around as well, and really the tC was the successor to the Celica all along.

It’s been a while since physics for me, but I agree that the mass is hardly a factor here because it’s already such a big disparity even with a smaller car. It’s not an F=MA equation, it’s an inelastic collision equation.

I think the Solstice aged well. At the time it felt like a dated design language and the Sky had the looks to backup the redline powertrain. I think time really narrowed that gap.

That depends on the car and how far out you’re looking for depreciation. 2 or 3 years out, a lot of these cars probably lost more depreciation than their coupe counterparts. But a lot of the time if you get further out than that the drop-tops hold their value better - especially on big roadsters like BMWs and Benzes.

On one hand, I feel like the price is too big of an ask for the mileage. On the other hand, I’ve seen a lot of these listed in the price range in much worse shape.
