I haven’t. I’ve glanced around but between short supply, loan rates, and not being in a rush, I haven’t dug to far. It seems like they are pretty rare here in western NY.

The newer ones don’t even feel that cheap. Maybe they are a bit unrefined, but they have a nice tight steering and suspension feel that makes it feel a bit sporty. Also, boxes on wheels are awesome. Hating boxes on wheels is hating utility. And when you’re old and uncool, it doesn’t matter if you look nerdy in a Soul,…
The Corolla Cross is what’s standing between my wife and a Prius. $28k gets you an AWD hybrid that’s a similar stature to her older Rav and 42mpg combined. Yeah, that’s less efficient than the Prius. But it’s also less money and a more familiar form factor for her.
It never tasted the same when they took the lead out.
It’s hard not to be pedantic in this study, because if we’re going to make this sort of silly argument we may as well be as accurate as we can.
Not to remove the blame from fragile masculinity (it’s a big factor in the whole world’s economy and the US as usual needs to be #1) but it’s hard to ignore stupidity as the root cause - well, there’s a lot of fearmongering but that’s just playing into the stupidity. If the crowd that was anti-wind, anti-solar, and…
I spent a week in Eastern Europe right before the pandemic on the last week of November (when many of the Christmas markets were open, which I very highly recommend). Vienna was relatively pricey, but Prague and Budapest less so. The day we spend in Bratislava, though, was awesome (as well as being the cheapest food,…
Needs “a tune up” is usually code for “barely runs”. If it runs enough for a loop around the block to confirm the drivetrain and suspension aren’t crumbling, then NP.
Rob, did you give us a guaranteed ND so you could include today in the year-end wrap up?
The Rivian comparisons allude to the fact that vehicles needing more juice to get 100 miles of range take more charge time to get that extra juice. But to your point, understanding how the charge times relate to charge rates would be helpful (if some of these vehicles can only charge at half the rate of their…
I don’t know what’s wrong with the current Prius making it “unreliable and unsafe” but I’d put that $4k into getting the Prius in tip-top shape rather than putting it into a (likely) 10+ year older Lumina. Or, if I’m planning to keep the next car for a long time, just buy a newer Prius (but take a look at options for…
I suppose if you had a lot of money and weren’t going to drive it much, the fact that it’s only visually a Saleen and that it’s been crushed (and that it’s an automatic, ew) isn’t a big deal.
Is it weird that the only thing stopping me from hitting NP was teal or purple paint?
I spoke to someone a few years ago (before Covid, so who knows how that put a damper on things) who was in the process of selling his house to coincide with he and his wife’s retirement. They were going to spend at least a few years living off of cruise ships. Florida apparently makes it easy to setup your home…
They look like I (someone who is not artistic in the least) tried to make a pickup truck out of cardboard.
In addition to the units being wrong, I was convinced the ratings were wrong. It seemed like an awful lot of electric power to end up with only 196 total hp. But I confirmed with the press release. That’s 111 hp in the front motor and 40 in the rear. And the gas engine produces 150hp.
Tesla is likely worse, and will surely see closer scrutiny than other manufacturers for better or worse (probably better, since maybe this is a case where having dealers would be beneficial to the consumer). My intention wasn’t to absolve Tesla of guilt, but rather to point out that this isn’t a unique scenario.
It seems like Tesla is just acting like legacy automakers. Cover up known issues and quietly fix the design while fixing some customer cars as a “good-will gesture”, hoping they can get away without a recall and avoid the issue until the vehicles are out of warranty.
More directly what I meant was “Hey Jalopnik writers! You should create an article about NIOs battery swapping technology and how it’s being received by consumers in Europe!”
