The 185k miles did have me questioning *when* those maintenance items were done, because it very well could have been a decade ago.

I’m assuming common seats with other models would make it easy to find a much fresher and more foam-intact seat if desired.
but the company says it has completed more than 34 million battery swaps
The part that’s always missing from the metrics (and is usually pointed out in the comments) is general trend in the marketplace and how it relates to vehicle prices. Ford is cutting back Lightning production, but I bet if they would build and stock base models they’d be selling a ton more. But it’s not just the Lightn…
It is interesting that it’s Ram (making it mainly pickups with some vans sprinkled in). It would be interesting to see if GMC was higher on the list than Chevy and if it was a pickup-driver issue or a Ram-buyer issue
We tried that from a friend’s wrangler. It was really hard to get it going without smashing into the ground
It should be written into law than if someone speeds up while you are passing them you are legally allowed to PIT them. When there’s other lanes on your side for passing, it’s just pretty annoying. But on a two-lane road you know they are a fucking douche.
I’d argue that Ram drivers are equivalent to Altima drivers but more redneck (or at least of the mindset of a truck being a status symbol). Tesla drivers must be a mix of douchebag “my tesla is cooler than your BMW” drivers and “this is even more economical than my Camry!” drivers.
When he said autopilot/FSD were less likely than the average driver to crash, he should have also said “and WAAAAAY less likely than the average Tesla driver”
Pretty cool. Never going to buy a Nissan Ariya, but still pretty cool.
Mustangs are just the Ferarris of the poors as horsepower has become cheaper. Driven by either old men driving slowly or young men driving stupidly.
I’m definitely a fan of a car that’s slow and old. But I like mine to be a $3000 roll of the dice on whether it will last 1 year or 4 while it continues/finishes rusting in my driveway.
I don’t know the MR2 market well, but given what I know about other ‘90s and early 00's Japanese sports cars, I assume the turbo carries a hefty premium. Like, double. Because otherwise it’s just a slow old car that looks cool.
That’s all totally true, but it seems like the main concern here is encroaching on freedoms rather than how well it will work. I’m on board if it works correctly (which in itself seems like a huge hurdle).
The state tracks if you have a license. The state tracks if your vehicle is registered. Most states track if you have insurance. If my insurance lapses in New York, they will unregister the car and suspend my license within a couple weeks. That is constantly monitored.
That loops us into another great conversation about medicine in the US and whether people are being forced to drive because they can’t get medical leave, and support for mental health as it relates to addiction
The other day my Cherokee wouldn’t start (shocking statement, I know) and I was left with no idea of whether is was the battery (and could jump it and get a new battery and be done with the whole ordeal in 20 minutes) because of the push button start. You get used to keeping your keys in your pocket pretty quickly,…
Well the “punish” part is really up in the air here. We don’t know what this will entail and what costs and adverse effects will come of it.
And to be fair, who hasn’t getting in an Uber/Lyft where the driver was going maddeningly slow? Apparently “hey, I’m a pretty OK driver” isn’t a required thought in these people’s heads when they consider driving for money.
Driving isn’t a right, it’s a privilege. You have to prove that you are capable of operating a motor vehicle. You have to prove that it is registered with your state. You have to prove that you have insurance. Those are things you do every day, under varying levels of scrutiny from government. You already can’t be…
