$57k for the top spec model??? Nevermind gender, I’m not sure there is a target audience for this thing. Not sure how many people are pining to plunk down 60-plus for a mediocre CUV. At least it will meet reliability expectations.

I assume most of you are blocked by a paywall for this article. Suffice to say, the only vehicles on this list that are actually economical are hybrids. Most of the rest have an average city fuel economy around 14-15 MPG by CR’s measurements.  Not figures I’d be touting in a piece about fuel efficient vehicles.

As a SoCal resident, I will admit that this recent spike is a major annoyance. But how does making sure buyers aren’t getting shorted at the pump prevent ‘price gouging’? Did someone change the definition of that term?

I’m really struggling to understand how their demands are reasonable. If someone has an educated counterpoint, I sincerely would like to hear it.

What kind of idiot looks at that single-track trail and thinks “oh, that’s for me to drive on!” Helicopter the damn thing out, send the registered owner the bill, and the one for the trail remediation.  

No, you don’t need to poke it incessantly. But in response to some of the other commenters, there are cities where have have to press the button or you will be standing on the corner for a long time.  San Diego metro area is a good example.
