It’s a stylistic choice.

Intentional art style, almost like a flipbook come to life. I really dig it; this is the first extended sequence I’ve seen of it, and it makes it pop more than the usual CG animation that makes Pixar/Dreamworks films feel a little too visually similar.

I really, REALLY hope this does well.  This looks like they really put some effort into making this a good movie.  Every new clip I see just reinforces that they put some serious effort into Miles debut.
