They’re all commenting on the recent XBox games showcase, with each frame referring to a different game shown in the presentation.
While I don’t really have any problem with the comics like some people do, Penny Arcade does sometimes stretch a joke past the point where it’s funny, so I honestly prefer this more brief…
There are five layers total, I believe: beach (can’t be manipulated), layer one, layer two, layer three, and layer four (cliffs you can create but can’t walk on)
I’m fairly certain beards exist in New Horizons.
I was a big fan of the 2D version, Adventure Quest Worlds, when I was in middle school. I recall that both Paul and Storm and Voltaire (the musician) had similar musical appearances in the game, with performances and related quests.
In the game, you can kill people in the usual ways, like shooting them or garroting them, but there are also special setpieces in each level that kill them in unique ways. The player in the comic is disappointed that they missed out on the cool special setpiece death.

Here’s the description of this week’s Awkward Zombie, by the way. I think those of you who complain about MG comics will appreciate it:
I’ve never watched GoT, but Dubrovnik is a really lovely, friendly place.
Oh, definitely. I’m sure it’ll be great. But some people are only thinking 2D = Good, 3D = Bad, and ignoring anything else. It’s best to just be excited for the game if you want and let the naysayers stew.
I think some people have just decided that any 3D Sonic game will be bad.
If it makes you feel any better, that description about the alien’s AI is a bit of a simplification. It’s explained more in-depth in this video, although if you really dislike the game I guess you probably wouldn’t want to watch a video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nt1XmiDwxhY
Chris Plante, who you may know was one of the founders of Polygon, actually returned to his position at Polygon a few weeks ago, so he and Griffin are co-workers again, as well as friends and real-life neighbors, so I could see them doing more content together to fill the void.
Sorry, you said you use your left hand with the touchpad, and since I’ve used mainly laptops from childhood, I forget to distinguish between mice and touchpad.
