Well, in their defense, they may just be drastically underestimating how much their is to move. My girlfriend and I had never actually moved out of a place before we moved out of our apartment (defining moving out as “We own everything in the place and everything must be completely cleared out by a certain date) so we

I used to frequent a LAN center in my youth. One asshole kept throwing his soda cans in the bed of my truck when he’d take a smoke break.

Roommate A heard me talking about unloading my storage unit and said, “Why don’t you ask Roommate B if you can borrow her pickup?”

Truth as someone who doesn’t own a pickup this is exactly how we think.

I don’t even help people move anymore. If someone wants to use my truck, they rent it out. And I insist on taking pictures of the odometer and gas gauge so they can’t claim they brought it back with the same amount of gas. I also take a picture of them next to the truck to document the lack of damage before they take

Lets see, once I lent the truck to a friend who proceeded to pick up day laborers with it from Home Depot. Now whenever I go there I get swarmed by them. Then I let my brother in law borrow it to move. He of course goes and picks up a day laborer to help. And I keep a whole bag of straps, rope, etc in my back seat,

OMG, who does that??? I was expecting maybe a used diaper in the van, but an adult pooping in it? That is just beyond uncivilized.

Reality: 8 hours later they are still shoving loose underwear into the box with the kitchen utensils

“It’s like $20/hr. or $100/day to just rent one at Home Depot.”

It really perplexes me why anyone would want to borrow a truck anyway. It’s like $20/hr. or $100/day to just rent one at Home Depot. Way easier than waiting until you can borrow a truck. Many of my relatives thought I was crazy for buying a little car. “But what if you need to haul something?” Dude, with what I save

Those are excellent rules. It’s crazy making when you show up and they aren’t even packed yet. LOL NOOOOOOOOOPE.

When I had a truck my rules for helping move were simple. I will show up at the designated time. I will not help carry things downstairs or wait while you do so. I will not help pack or wait while you do so. Have your stuff near the door/outside/in the garage ready to load. I will help load/unload and I will drive. I

My father had a van and used to sell stuff at flea markets. One time there was a group of women. One haggled with my father about something but didn’t buy it in the end. A few minutes later one of the other women, who had a baby with her, asked if he had a spare table or anything behind the van where she could change

Note: the solution to the hassling is, “I just lent my truck to my cousin and he moved three loads of manure for his garden. Still can’t get the bed clean enough to get rid of the odor, but I guess you can borrow it if you don’t mind the stink.”

I have the tiniest Matchbox S-10 pickup and someone had me help them move a small refrigerator, which would have been OK if her 300-lb neighbor hadn’t stood on the tailgate to help us get it off the truck. I even said something and they were both like “aw, it’s fine.” I live in south TX where everyone has a truck 3x

Oh, the joyous truth. Working as a housing case manager, the agency had supplied us with a half-ton pickup with which we were to assist with client moves. No, we didn’t have any money in the budget to help them move, just the truck. So we drove the truck back and forth however many times it took, while the clients

Also, apparently everyone thinks that the bed of a pick-up truck is also a garbage can, and thus is a suitable place to dump your half-drunk Big Gulps and other assorted trash.

My dad has a truck. He doesn't let anyone take the truck but he will help out. He wants to be there in case something happens or to stop it from happening.

And the beer & pizza payment turns out to be one beer out of a warm six pack, & a half cold slice of Dominoes.

Absolutely! And when you agree to help them move:
