That's admirably old fashioned. When did people start thinking that a martini should just be straight spirit?

Also worth trying: a perfect Rob Roy. I recommend Oban for the scotch, but whatever you prefer is probably fine, as long as it's not too smoky. Smokey scotch pairs better with dry vermouth, I think.
No no no. Vermouth is underrated, and should be enjoyed in the appropriate volume.
I don't much care for Tonic, so I also prefer Tom Collins. It's G&T's funner, happier cousin.

Looks like I might be making a trek to Plymouth, MN.
"I have personally reviewed this legislation and I can assure you that it will, if anything, increase coverage for everyone!"
I would say CTHD, if narrowly. Hero is a little rougher around the edges and I think Ziyi is kind of wasted in her role.
I generally hate it, but I will admit it is much more entertaining than it has any right to be.

I greatly enjoyed it when it first came out, though the shine has certainly come off it over the years.
Huge casting mistake. Weird, considering the rest of the cast is just about perfect, as I see it.
It might be his best technical achievement, but even the Director's Cut doesn't save the atrocious screenplay.
It's not a very contained story, though. I think it would be better as a prestige cable series.
I always get chills when Yeoh's character pulls out that huge two-handed sword. She's so good in that scene.
I think the fact that they shot the film abroad and used a lot of foreign actors kind of cuts against that categorization. But you have a point.

Snatch
Agreed. It's a really solid movie, though I might consider it more action-adjacent.
