Try cooking without pepper. You can always add pepper after the steak is cooked, and adding it before cooking can lead to (1) a bad sear and (2) burnt pepper.

I've been doing Blue Apron for a few weeks now, mostly to avoid shopping too much and to help with portion control. The meals have been pretty decent for the most part, but I'm getting bored. Cooking is a creative outlet for me, and this is not fulfilling that need.
