Yeah, I think that's the big difference between Chicago and New York pizza cultures. In the Northeast, it's something you're going to eat relatively often. In the Midwest, it's an occasional treat.

Detroit is underrated for pizza, but it's definitely different than what most people are used to.

Also good when poached in beer.

Some of the best pizza I've ever had was in Florence, and was completely different than what I had growing up.
