Denethor was corrupted by the power of Sauron through the palantir. He was, presumably, a decent-ish person before he came to power.
I liked that his character was both Jekyll and Hyde together in one personality, and Hatch was brilliant in the role.
Maybe he never got the shots at stronger dramatic material because of his looks. It's a shame, because he obviously had talent.

Bad, navel-gazing BSG (in the modern run) was still way better than most other shows out there.
And Katee Sackhoff did more with the character in the show's pilot than Benedict did in the entire original run, not to mention (or minimize) the awesome job she did during the rest of the show.
I think it's called "Mild-spectrum-Gard" in the new DSM.

I'm not much of a fan myself, though for different reasons. I find bourbon to be too sweet, so I usually prefer scotch or irish whiskeys. I've had good ryes, though I prefer them less sweet as well, and I usually only drink them in Manhattans.
Something can be both a toy commercial and a valuable form of art and/or entertainment. The concepts are not mutually exclusive.
