Not buying a game for whatever reason is a choice. Actively voicing your opinion to boycott the game is inciting others to act the same way. Many of the posters in this thread are not just making a choice.

Please do some research on the Avalanche Studios Group. I don’t think you understand the size of the studio by your comments. And they are not owned by any of the big publishers or investment firms. A major boycott could certainly cause financial problems for a studio of their size.

I never said she didn’t get royalties; I said that she gets money up front for such a well known IP. So regardless of how the game does she makes money.

I think you forgot what the article was about because obviously someone at Avalanche is very concerned about their game being associated with Rowling. It's kind of the entire point of the first paragraph.

Again, what does Rowling have to do with anyone at the Avalanche? She isn’t even a founder or employee. Your example of CrossFit doesn’t apply here because Rowling is in no way associated with Avalanche, other than the license from Universal.

Except my point was that you aren’t punishing the fatcats, you are punishing the artists, programmers, sound designers, and testers that work for a developer that is owned by or partnered with that large business. People who are trying to make a living and will be inevitably punished for your campaign against Rowling.

At this point I don’t think you understand how big the Harry Potter franchise is and how much money she will get even if she does nothing for the rest of her life.

I would expect nothing less from you.

So if I’m a developer that works for a company, I should quit and find another job when my boss finds me work because of what might happen when the author of the franchise they licensed has an opinion I don’t agree with? Now if only we could find out how Bacon’s Law applies to this.

1) She gets money from licensing the Harry Potter name up front.

What is wrong with you? Like seriously.

The concern is well-founded as the social justice movement doesn’t care who it hurts to get its message across. Just last week there were comments about boycotting the upcoming Avengers game because the marketing team posted an insensitive publicity campaign, which was probably created months ago. What does that

Until Twitch formally makes a policy that gives its streamers conduct guidelines, this means nothing. Streamers have complained for years about Twitch’s lack of transparency when it comes to bans and so far Twitch has only proven that they don’t understand how to accomplish this. The entire streamer council thing

Agreed. And then we have the fact that many of these accusations are from several years prior, so apparently past actions are not protected. I can think of at least one major streamer that was accused on infidelity and also a criminal act at a major expo.

Were any charges or complaints ever made? Posting something on social media many years after the incident occurred is certainly one method to make an accusation, but unless there is a clause in the employment contract for character I don’t know if there is anything HR can do without facing a lawsuit.

Ironman and Hawkeye for sure. Maybe Hulk has a torn pants collection. But yeah, this seems incredibly forced.

So do we recycle the trash and help make it into something better or just throw it out and add to the landfill?

Again, I’m not defending anyone’s actions but have you been to a bar? You make it sound like there are verbal agreements being made by both parties when it’s more like ‘Can I buy you a drink?’, ‘Want to go back to my place?’, ‘Do you have a condom?’. At any point either party can change the outcome and there are

First, I’m not your buddy. Second, communication is a two-way thing and while his actions were deplorable, saying NO is often all that a man needs to hear to stop. I wish I could say that men aren’t sexually aggressive but they often are. They have no issue with casual sex and make inappropriate advancements to get

I’m all for stopping predatory behavior and sexual harassment but no criminal charges were ever filed and while we are hearing about several incidents currently it sounds like none of them were officially reported. It’s unclear what you expect an HR department to do in this case? I mean being aggressive sexually or
