Because Panamera (I’ve seen this at the Museum and it’s every bit as sharp as you’d think.)

Lol, the original tried to be luxurious, it was just a much much less sophisticated car. Also far less safe! Both cars are amazing and amazingly fast. I love them all. I do understand your point - but the car that you are describing is now called a GT2. They could call it a 930 GT2 though.
The better not have only 240 hp though - that just isn’t enough in today’s performance car environment. People who want a precise and moderately fast car are well served by the Japanese. I’d also like to see them call the 911 Turbo the 930.
You do at least have the better looking car, imho. The new design is superior from an engineering standpoint, but a lot less attractive.
I had an mkv gti (with leather) and couldn’t understand why they didn’t do the VW leatherette with the plaid. I liked the plaid but thought the bolsters were in a scratchy, nasty material. Overall, I’d come up with the extra 5k or so and get the R. That thing is amazing
The new car is a whopping four inches shorter and has shrunk 2 inches in height and width. That represents a 2% change in L and 2.6% in W and about 3.5% in height. It a foot longer than a 3 series, and 4 inches wider. The lack of glass aft of the b-pillar is sadly a deal-breaker for me.
I love everything about this car from the A-Pillar forward. It is a shame they didn’t use any glass in the construction. If this car had been in Scent of a Woman it wouldn’t have mattered who was driving.
This is mine. I got it used with 780 miles on it so I was able to get more car than I should have. Whoever ordered ticked the correct boxes because it has the comfort package with nicer seats, sport-chrono, glass roof, multi-function steering wheel, and upgraded wheels that match the paint. Those are probably the…
Yeah they won’t be out until next spring though. Everything on lots atm is naturally aspirated, save the Turbo.
Love the ducktail - but you have to get that alternate front end with it. Nothing wrong with the looks of it but even Porsche notify you basically that it’s going to scrape the ground a lot. I’ve tried looking around for a ducktail that is sold separately but it must put the downforce out of balance enough that they…
I think hideous is maybe a bit strong - maybe a “unresolved” I would have preferred applying the design of the S60 lights, which are as distinctive but more handsome. The designer seems to be trying to adapt the xc/v style of lighting. It didn’t quite work though.
I just got one (with about $20k fewer vanity options) late this summer. The car stays in the garage over the winter, but I read this article again because I miss driving it. Good article - thanks :-). I think your observations are spot on, just about everywhere. Compared to the 997 what really struck me was how much…
I’m glad it doesn’t sag in the back like the newer Audi and MB designs seem to. I think the challenge nowadays is to hide all that extra mass that pedestrian-safety has added to the front ends of cars.
I’d have the V90 anyway. Dunno what jokes that leaves open but the back end of this is OK. :-)
I can’t really agree. It’s not disticntive in the way the pre-hyundai-replica Audi grills were - but I don’t see it as being derived from Ford’s A.M. knock-off. It is a bit busy, like all modern cars seem to be - but overall the car is not overstyled and should look fresh for a long time.
It’s the roofline, the squareness and proportion of hood/roof/trunk.
Very pretty car. I hope I will be able to afford another XC60 or a V60 when my current one wears out. A Volvo kept me alive in a very bad crash. They are wonderful cars.
To me the changes really stick out - materials are the other big change. The new car is almost all aluminum.
It’s a totally different car. Not the same chassis, different build materials, the hard-points are all way different. The back wheels are pushed back, the wheelbase longer, the sideglass shorter, the windshield and back window much steeper, the front overhang is shorter and the trunk lid taller. It’s the same theme…
It’s a lack o IMS paranoia.
