Ender, dude... You committed genocide. I’m not sure you’ve got the moral high ground on, like any issue.

Fair enough, I know it’s wishful thinking at this point. I can dream, though...

I get that it’s mostly meaningless, but at this point, it’s still slightly better than before. Hence “baby steps.”

That’s unfortunate, about the guy’s problems and the site shutting down. Sounds like it’d be fun to look through it.

That does look more likely all the time. If a Sanders presidency is the end result of Trump’s/Republicans’ madness, then they need to keep it up. For a bit longer.

I’m with you. I used to have so much fun as a kid thinking about alien abductions and searching for hidden messeges in books, but this is just stupid.

I’m generally not one to wish cancer on people, but I certainly have entertained the desire for everyone who opposes universal health care to be struck with treatable - but very expensive - illnesses and be forced into bankruptcy for their short sighted greed.

Very true. I tend to (inaccurately) just pare down what I’m saying to “socialism” when I’m really talking about democratic socialism or social democracy. Blending social welfare with captialism in the way many places do provides most of the best parts of each, while mitigating the negatives.

I think your huge sidenote hit the nail on the head. My real political awareness (not counting the ideology my family had ground into me as a child) began during W’s first term, when I came to the sharp realization that war-mongering, racism, and greed were the cornerstones of Republicanism. I’m reasonably certain

I guess I should say the whole thing: I’m a democratic socialist.

...Lemongrab?

It never ceases to amaze me that there are people who seem to think taxes are literally the worst thing in the world. I’d gladly pay a higher portion of my income in taxes if it meant better health care, education, social equality, roads, public transportation, etc. There’s a very good reason socialist countries are

Thank you, I’m not really feeling up to engaging trolls any more today.

So you’re choosing to by a hypocrite. Well, at least you admit it. That’s... something, I guess.

department of 40 or so women of child bearing age and I just don’t think it’s fair that they get special treatment.

Here’s the thing, though: paying a bit more in taxes is less expensive than the system we’ve got here. Reasonable, progressive tax increases make everything else work better. Providing parental leave increases job security and employee morale; a stronger, more confident workforce is a benefit to consumers as well. By

Ha, yeah, I bet the winters are a bit extreme up there.

I was thinking Denmark, since I’ve seen how great it is first hand. But yes, Sweden is also a good model for the direction we should take.

If a system like Denmark’s is put in place, some of the money comes from taxes, while some comes from the employer. Paid parental leave is an important factor in driving Denmark’s greater wealth and income equality, higher upward mobility, and better health care system. Our country could improve greatly if we were

Are you laughing because you disagree, or because the idea of Texas doing something that intelligent is beyond believability?
