Come on, that’s a really hard word to spell.

I agree with your methodology. Bragging about delicious homemade food, but not sharing it, is a very satisfying form of revenge.

They really can’t decide where they want to put those goal posts. Whenever they find a spot that looks good, they end up having to move them again.

Many hypotheses have been proposed in an attempt to answer this question. Some believe it’s a case of greed overriding common sense and conscience, some think these women are brainwashed, and others have suggested that it’s little more than nihilism and boredom causing them to kick the proverbial ant hill.

Do you work for Nintendo? If you do, you need to speak up at some meetings. If not, you should go work for them.

Do it. It’s roughly on par with buying 2-liters, price-wise, it makes for a lot less trash to bring to the curb/dumpster/enemy’s yard/wherever you take your trash, plus it’s a conversation starter. Almost any time I take a bottle with me, I get asked about it.

I hear ya, Mindy. Dude’s amazing.

Pinkham’s Law states that the longer a comment section grows while discussing indefensibly stupid behavior, the greater the likelihood that someone will stand in defense of that stupid behavior.

No idea! I don’t think I’ve seen a comments section that hasn’t referenced it, so I’m just as shocked as you that I got to be the one to do it eight and a half hours in.

Me too. I kept thinking, “I so want say this, but somebody probably beat me to it.”

I wholeheartedly agree. Not much of any real value is going to get done until we the people take the power away from the de facto plutocracy.

I feel like there’s an important question here that nobody has answered: Did they save bread?

*sigh* It’s sad how right you are. I’ll never understand why so many people in this country simply refuse to accept that other countries do some things better than we do, and that it’s OK to use their ideas.

Training costs could be covered by the tax credit. As for the extra difficulty imposed on startups, that’s a fair point. Perhaps new companies could be exempt from the requirement for a few years?

It’s not difficult to fix that though. If your business is in a lower tax bracket, you get a tax credit for each employee that’s taken paid maternity/paternity leave. The government already subsidizes large businesses through enormous tax breaks and covering a portion of what low-income workers need to survive, so

“Family oriented” and “family values” mean that they support WASPy nuclear families. They support all women being June Cleaver. Make no mistake, that’s the only thing the mean when they say that.

I hadn’t considered a co-caregiver for a single parent; I had just defaulted to a single parent getting the entire allotment. Now I feel ridiculous, since your idea is a lot better.

Love the “ninnyhammer” remark; that black hole stuff is really harsh. I completely approve, of course, I just wanted to applaud the imagery. Or the lack thereof, I suppose.

We all saw it coming, right? I’ve been pointing this out in meat space for years. All they’ve been doing for the last few decades is breaking everything, then turning with a shrug saying, “I guess government doesn’t work.”
