This isn’t about friends - this is about your SO’s (in my case, my wife) friends’ SO’s. In my experience, dudes like that are typically dumb chodes. This is why I opt, more often than not, to stay home watching the kids, whereupon I can drink my own beer (and/or smoke up), and either read or watch whatever I want.

Personally I like the TVs. It adds more options in conversation too I have found and not once has it seemed to take away from the enjoyment of myself or my friends if we glance over to check the screen. (Obviously if we are there for a game then it’s expected to have our eyes glued

Agreed. Also, when I’m stuck at a bar first waiting for everyone, I like having a place to put my eyes without creeping anyone else out. Sure, I’m still the loser/weirdo at the bar by myself, but at least I’m not that loser/creeper staring at random people.

Revolution brewing’s brewery/bar plays weird old movies pretty often when I go there, they can be pretty entertaining and usually sparks a lot of conversation on just wtf is actually happening in them.
