Being terrified of a disease that requires direct contact with bodily fluids to transmit and currently infects 1 person in the country is pretty stupid. If the medical experts are saying "don't panic" and the politicians who are trying to appear tough to win elections are saying "lock up everyone who has ever been to

The people who are the loudest and most obnoxious about this would probably still be terrified.

IN. AFRICA. Bangor, Maine is not Sierra Leone. Unless Kaci Hickox spikes a fever and sneezes directly into your mouth, you're gonna be fine.

And keep in mind that the ONLY person who died here didn't have medical care until he'd been contagious for 4 days. So he likely would have survived had the Dallas hospital not dropped the ball and sent him home when he first spiked a fever.

You do realize that, for all the ridiculous Ebolapocalypse panic that's been happening for weeks, there have been less than 10 cases in the US. Ever. 2 of them were flown in specifically BECAUSE they had Ebola, and we're well equipped to treat it over here. 2 of them got it because they were actively handling the

I'm not scared of clowns, but Twisty freaks me. the fuck. out. I don't like jump scares and that's a lot of what he does. Also the never-speaking is deeply unsettling.

It can't help that their base is gonna start dying out soon, though.

Yeah, I've read that Houston is the most diverse major city in the country. Boston's the least.

I've lived in Houston for 18 years and Austin for 3, and I'd definitely rather live in Austin. Mostly because Houston needs to up it's park and trail game, for real. Austin also has better coffee and prettier buildings and a more fun bar scene and live music and puppies EVERYWHERE. Houston wins at museums, though.

unrelated but I deeply love your name.

To be fair, the nurses who contracted the disease had never dealt with it before. I think the fact that the nurses caught it has more to do with their lack of ebola experience than the quality of healthcare in the country.

Pretty sure this is the same guy who was all over the Bristol Palin/Chelsea Clinton comments yesterday ranting about how Chelsea is a schizophrenic sex offender and then flipping shit when everyone was like "wait, what."

Ughhh that's so dumb. I like to remind people that if nobody in Thomas Eric Duncan's family (the ones who lived in close quarters with him for 4 days while he was contagious) ended up getting sick, they're not gonna catch it by riding the same train as someone who has it. The people who caught it here are nurses, and

Jason Jones was going around asking people in Austin what they thought the most important issue in Texas was. One lady said Ebola.

No, it's how we respond to people who keep saying something that seems totally out of left field and who get super defensive when asked to explain what they're even saying.

Incorrect because Mexican food and BBQ. Austin wins.

She's adorable. I'd adopt her if I wasn't moving into a no-dogs-allowed apt next year. :(

Yeah, okay, and all middle-aged men are such prizes.

As a 21-year-old woman, I totally agree that it's insulting to imply that young women will automatically tolerate any shitty treatment or abuse just because we don't know any better and can't stand up for ourselves. It's just not true.

There's a dog at the animal shelter I volunteer with named Isis. She's been there since before ISIS was a thing, but still. It can't be helping her any.
