I have my doubts about that, but FWIW I sincerely hope you’re right and I’m wrong!

I have to admit that Starbucks coffee is, erm, not my favourite.

Japan’s 7/11 convenience stores have cash machines that you can use to withdraw money from your home savings or chequing account. (I think your card needs to be “chipped”, mind you, but that’s standard procedure up here in Canada.) The trick is to find a bank account back home that won’t charge you for withdrawals

I grew up in a deadly boring Canadian suburb — but there was a vestigial working farm in the west end. Beside this was a wooded area with a footpath through it. During the summer, I used to go through this wood practically every day to go to the library and back. Sometimes I’d go deeper into the woods and sit with my

A good time to withdraw any pounds sterling you may have in a British bank: before March 29.

You definitely would! I wanted to take some (Canadian) Starbucks cards with small amounts on them, to give out while travelling in Japan as thank-you gifts. Luckily my barista told me in time that they wouldn’t be usable there. So I took some “blanks” (with permission) and distributed them to a couple of fascinated

I am so sorry you learned the bad news like that. I can’t imagine how awful that must have felt.

I’m more worried about this kind of thing:

What if your spouse doesn’t like thinking about finance (boring/scary), and every time you broach it, he says it can wait until next week?

Please, please, please take these to heart, people.

If you want the onions to be soft, they absolutely do go in first.*

Wait wait wait! Where’s the “cleanest to dirtiest” rule?

I use the so-called Swedish dishcloths, which are made of cellulose. They can be (should be) washed regularly in a washing machine, then left to air dry. They are crazy absorbent, and can be reused about a bazillion times. They come in various pretty patterns, so it’s easy to reserve some for dishes and others for

They are — thank you! Including one option in Chinatown, not far from Pacific Central Station. I’ll give that a try next time I’m in town. Thanks very much.

Hmm... there are only 2 options for Vancouver (BC, Canada), and neither of them is remotely near the Pacific Central Station.

Or maybe women are perceived as talking “too much” when they take 50% (or even significantly less) of the conversation space.

On the review page you linked to, reviewers complain that they are required to snap a pic before saving an entry. That’s a HUGE deterrent, unfortunately. Apparently you can’t simply save an entry without a pic, and the app doesn’t allow you to browse to an existing pic on your phone. My phone doesn’t need more clutter!

I recommend reusing the Folgers plastic tubs as storage containers. They’re especially good for packing and stacking fragile things. I’ve never drunk the coffee (that I know of), but I’ve scored some emptied plastic tubs, and they’re aces. (I’ve actually considered buying the coffee just to get the containers...)

My workplace is crammed with keeners who start around 7:00 a.m. I think there’s one person who actually arrives at 6:30.
