1. In the terms of this discussion, I don’t think someone who buys a boat counts as “poor”.

Please do consider exploring reusable menstrual supplies, namely menstrual cups and reusable, good-quality cloth napkins. They represent a gift to the environment and a huge savings over a lifetime.

I love the app because I’m seriously addicted to some of their light meal options, especially the chicken-quinoa-chili-whatever-the-hell-it’s-called salad. The local Starbucks runs out of these salads quickly at lunchtime, so the app is a good way of ensuring one is still there for me by the time I arrive.

I’ve done this twice (because the app does keep pointing to whatever Starbucks is not the nearest one). And both times, after figuring out what happened, the local barista comped me the drink that was sitting unclaimed at another branch.

Try searching on “mouse pad” plus “carpet” or “rug” (at least, for the example on the right). They’re everywhere!

I’m about to go on a trip that’ll slap me down 8 time zones away. So, I’m looking for an alarm that will wake me up BUT not irritate the hell out of me, because I’ll be suffering serious jet lag. Any suggestions?

Jesus, it could have meant the difference between life and death for those two missing fishermen :(

Absolutely right! We can’t all be Simon and Minty until we give it a proper go. Those tomatoes won’t embarrass themselves.

I’ve been doing this for years — although it does require you and your friend to have the privilege of a flexible schedule.

“If my home burned down to the ground and I got compensated 100% by insurance money, would I buy this item again?”

I’m baffled by that. I live in British Columbia, used to live in Ontario (the two most populous English-speaking provinces), and I can tell you that 20% has been standard in both places for many years — and, I’m willing to bet, across the entire country. The last Canadian I know who tipped as low as 15% (never 10%!) wa

Maybe a follow-up piece on how to locate and identify a good trainer?

Which you therefore do not include in your donated items, but throw in your very own garbage bin. (It’s honestly not hard to work out which is which.)

Oh, I agree. I did not mean to imply that I (or anyone else) should donate garbage. When I sort household goods, junk goes directly into the trash bin.

It’s VERY important to get checked out medically, even if you think you’re OK.

Waiting until you can “properly” dispose of your stuff can lead to it still taking up space (physical and psychic) in your home. This is particularly the case if, like me, you are in an apartment and don’t have a car. Trotting stuff round to various consignment shops, warehousing items to be sold on eBay — it gets

You say “tons,” so this isn’t a complete solution, but you could try dropping a few at your local Little Free Libraries. My neighbourhood has at least 8 or 9 LFLs, and they include every conceivable type of book — including academic ones, which do get picked up and read by people.

Yeah, but when I say “I’m sorry your mother died,” I am not apologizing for her death, nor am I taking any sort of responsibility for it.
