I already use the iPhone for cloud gaming with a Backbone, if you get the Max model, the screen is decent enough (but for that price, you have better options).

I wouldn’t be surprised if you can hook your USB-C iPhone to a Steam Deck or Switch dock to play it on the TV.

That’s not much of an issue with Apple users, they’d pay if it’s worth it. Since Macs use the same architecture, I am sure they are the same games on both Mac and iOS. Allowing you to own both versions would make the price more attractive. Some apps already let you do that.

The Backbone still has one major flaw: It’s incompatible with phone cases, which 99% of people who use an iPhone own. Pulling out your case every time you want to play a game makes you almost not want to use it. Hopefully Backbone (or Razer, which competes directly with it) will solve that problem with a new model.

One thing that bothers me, which actually became a meme with Cowboy Bebop, is the bleached color palette. I had to get used a little bit to the excessive use of fisheye lens closeups, but I could never get past the ugly color filter.
