On first reading, I thought you shared a gyro with her, which seemed, oddly, more intimate.

Question for Native Americans, First Nations (Indigenous Americans, generally). Do you feel that it’s ever OK for non-Indigenous Americans to wear the dress of any given tribe? I know the Halloween costume generic “Indian Brave/Princess” thing is generally accepted as “red face” and offensive. Ditto for models with…
I bought the Scott 1000 accidentally once thinking it was the Scott Extra Soft, and, of my own accord, I admitted my mistake to my spouse, apologized and promised it would not happen again. This is one of only a slim handful of times that I felt this type of action was necessary in over ten years together.

Mmhm.
Benetton for the new millenium. I really enjoyed that decade where everytime more than two races hung out together, it would be compared to a Benetton ad.
Question: Does anybody have experience taking freelance writing jobs they find through on-line job listing sites or the like? I was poking around the other day, and they look so not legit. How can you be looking for writers, but spell jobs “jobz”? That’s got to be a scam, right?
Counterpoint: when Marlon Brando referenced the “wily Filipino” it didn’t feel like a compliment.
I have some shocking news for you:
That’s a Maltese, and you know you know that’s a Maltese so why are you throwing it out there? Because if anybody says it’s not a Maltese, then you will know that they are wrong because it’s a Maltese and you know that.
I think the storage question is crucial. Beyond the price tag, you’ll need a HUGE secure climate controlled space to display this piece. Keeping it clean also seems like it would be a challenge. That’s a lot of rubbery nooks and crannies for dust to settle in, and it’ll be a miracle if they can keep those linens crisp…
In the South there’s a lot of hugging. In NYC, the kiss hello/goodbye (cheek lightly brushing cheek no lip contact) is very common. When you get southerners living in NY greeting each other, things get awkward because you don’t know what’s coming. I’ve gotten my neck inadvertently nuzzled from this.
I am 100% behind you in theory, but in practice, I find my workout clothes too tight to be comfortably worn all day. In particular, my philosophy behind jog bras (buy them one size too small so that nothing moves) means I’m taking it off as I walk in the door from working out. This is why knit dresses are my pajama…
I ran a 10K this past summer in 85 degree weather with over 70% humidity and the experience was so traumatic that I’ve sworn off summer races entirely. When people asked about the race, I told them it was miserable and I hated it. They thought I was being jokey and self-deprecating, but it was very important to me…
I once found two bottles of Clamato juice in my mother’s cupboard. When I asked her why, she said they were buy one get one free. I told her if you don’t want the first bottle, getting the second one free is not a bargain. Side note, around this time Clamato juice advertised “Now with less clam!” on its label.…
I am genuinely grateful that I am not in a childbearing window right now because as a mosquito magnet and a low level hypochondriac, this situation would keep me at an orange alert stress level for 40 weeks. I would be the crazy lady in a beekeeper suit reeking of Deep Woods Off.
That is a righteous mullet.
Dry chicken for life. You know how you’re not supposed to cut into the middle of a piece of meat to see if it’s cooked because it let’s all the juices escape? Fuck that.
My favorite high school teacher was a kid when the vaccine came out, and she talked about Jonas Salk the way other people talk about their sports heroes. You could still see the fear of polio in her face when she talked about what it was like before the vaccine.
Not familiar with Ryn Weaver so did some Googling to see if she is a native English speaker. First saw, “born Erin Michelle Wüthrich” and thought, that makes sense, she’s German, then saw “American singer and songwriter” so it’s not a language barrier she’s just not a proofreading kind o’ woman.
Thanks. At least “on” and “the” still mean what I think they do.
