Exactly- there are tons of examples of getting people to say just about anything (even to their own extreme detriment) through these kinds of tactics.

It’s awful, but in those kind of interrogations it’s not all that unusual to get people to sign confessions of their own guilt. Based on that, I believe it wasn’t necessarily evil on her part. I’m guessing they had broken her down to the point that she started to believe it was true.
This is my thought. I read a decent amount on it when it was going on and just cannot understand how anyone can think they did it. Yes, it was terrible that she implicated someone else, but she was interrogated in Italian (she’d only been in Italy a couple weeks) for many hours- false confessions aren’t even that…
No, not StEm. The money is in law, medicine and some types of engineering. You can earn extra by getting a named professorship. And of course there is no option to just move somewhere where your money will go further, because you live where you got a job, be it Berkeley or Tenneessee.
Aw, come on, if you are at Uc Berkeley, by the time you’ve been there 35 years (so, about 70), you’ll break that $100,000 mark. Bank!! And just a couple of decades at that wage (so by your 90th birthday) you’ll probably have saved enough to buy a house in the bay area!!,
4 months off? They get 4 months to research and work on their publications. Plus they have graduate students to advise, duties towards the university, conferences to organize/attend and grant applications to write. The real money comes only as a full professor, after you’ve spent years working evenings and weekends to…
Maybe the ones in STEM fields at prestigious universities. I make $30,000 more than the chair of my graduate school department.
Professors drive beaters because they are poor.
It appears there are some real misconceptions about academic wealth on this board.
My dad just retired from a tenured prof job at a small Catholic college, and he once went a 10 year stretch (as did every other professor) wit no raise whatsoever. Good thing my mother sees frugality as one of her morals.
“I need to finish” guy should hook up with “my dick is too big guy”. They could tour the country sharing their asinine rape tales while the public pummels them with rotten foodstuffs.
People had pubic hair in the 80s which can significantly cut down on camel toe.
Look, I’m just getting into the retro pinup style low-legged, high-waisted bikini. I love it. It’s more flattering on my fat gut than any one-piece has been. No way am I switching to any kind of high-cut monstrosity now.
There’s the bulge, but there’s also that weird soft area to the inside of the pelvic bones that just seems weird to see when other parts of the body are covered.
I have a similar one in red and I look great in it because I’m pretty straight waisted and this actually makes it look like there’s a difference between my waist and hips.
...ye olde lip slip?
Except it does not make your legs look longer. It makes your hips look bigger and your legs look like they were attached to your body incorrectly.
Lab flab.
