That’s a good point. People fought and died for the first amendment. That said, I highly doubt very many of these jackasses would voluntarily risk their lives to protect that right or react courageously when if their life was truly threatened in order to exercise that right.

Big difference between people who vote conservative/say they are conservative, and people who are conservative.

Very persuasive. The profanity and name calling really won me over. I’ll just leave this here:

Agreed. I think we can all agree though that if you’re doing the things I site above, your actions not protected by the first amendment.

I credit you for at least taking the effort to provide a few links backing up some of the stats. Something the original poster didn’t bother to do. A couple of problems from my point of view:

I know the Consumer Reports article makes note of safety, but I would think it’s inherently less safe due to tighter space in the event of an accident. Any idea what (if any) impact on safety there is?

We went with the bigger vehicle option too. Got my wife an Explorer (she refuses to drive a minivan...yet) so we have three rows now. I know it’s not an option for a lot of people, but it got to be ridiculous with friends/families having to take a second car to get to the same place.

Ha. Beautiful.

Well said. People could be thinking about the impressively large and peaceful women’s march that occurred Saturday. Instead, all we’re going to remember a year from now whiny punks setting garbage cans on fire, assaulting cops and citizens, committing vandalism, and generally acting like jackasses.

Sorry you’re catching so much flack. You’re one of only a handful of anti-Trump people that seem to get this.

Can’t believe I’m only the second star. I keep wondering when Univision is going to realize this guy is turning off longtime readers who come here for what made this site great (funny/entertaining/insightful posts about sports, being a dude, being a dad, and hell even cooking) and can his long-winded ass.

And I love this: “I can appreciate the strategic value of rowdy elements who like to break things, because they establish an edge that makes it easier for the more moderate activists to accomplish what they want to accomplish”.

That this is even a thing is laughable. But blogs and papers need to be written...

Assuming the drive-by is regarding Republican votes, but it could be the exact opposite.

Nicely said.

I may have misunderstood your statement, but Ron Johnson isn’t a lifelong part hack. He was the CEO of the company he and his wife’s brother started until 2010 when he decided to run for office.

Wow. Interesting take. You don’t get much political thoughtfulness or diversity of viewpoint on Jezebel blogs or the comment section (or any other former Gawker property for that matter). Keep it up!

The poster didn’t make a point. They regurgitated a bunch of (unsourced) vague liberal talking points about “income inequality” that target outcomes and not causes. I chose to address one of those.

I’m not. Jezebel is an ultra-liberal site. This type of behavior is looked upon as high-minded political activism.

Shocked to see so few threads on this post to make this distinction. The first amendment does not protect rioting. It’s why the qualifier of “peaceably” was included.
