I didn’t see anyone looking particularly confused. And one player seemed to be mouthing some sort of words. I’m not convinced the players even knew it was the wrong anthem.

This doesn’t seem like a tough case to adjudicate. Put the two contracts in front of a judge. If the New Balance contract does not, in fact, include reductions, Nike loses. Right?
Yes, jail seems like a steep price to pay for only 20 minutes of raping action.
“Without Indianapolis propping that rating up, Nuvo notes that the ratings would have been in the threes.” That’s like saying that the NBA Finals ratings would be a lot lower if you exclude viewers in Cleveland or the Bay Area. Viewers are viewers, and they count even though they live in Indianapolis and are watching…
The man’s gotta feed his family.
I think he sells Delly a little short. He’s no star but did more than thug duty in helping the Cavs to the Finals last year, he actually made a lot of plays.
Does Varejao actually get a ring either way? As I recall (though I may be thinking of a different sport) someone traded mid-season has the option of getting a ring should their old team win, but it’s up to a vote of the players or something.
I wonder what Stephen A. Smith thinks about this.
“Dallas police told ESPN it does not appear that DeJean-Jones and the resident of the apartment knew each other previously. Sources told ESPN that Dejean-Jones was in town to celebrate his daughter’s birthday and was involved in an argument with the child’s mother prior to the shooting.”
Gun-control-nut here, but I disagree with you. This story, as we currently understand it, demonstrates the actions of the most reasonable kind of gun owner. Dude seems to have owned a handgun for protection and shot a guy who broke into his bedroom after he called out a warning. I don’t see anything wrong with that.
It sounds like “this miscreant” wouldn’t have killed the occupant; he was in the wrong apartment. That said, when you kick down someone’s door, no matter why you’re there or who they are, you always risk getting shot.
When I visit friends and girlfriends I typically kick the door in first, then knock. Maybe that’s just me.
It seems that the Deadspin article itself is the first to start blaming the shooting victim. Why is it relevant that a teammate once told him “I should have shot you when I had the chance”? Seems relevant only to whatever bad shit that teammate ends up doing.
I don’t think this romanticizes, minimizes or sensationalizes anything. I thought it was a terrific article, a straight-forward, unglamorous, honest look at something that I’m sure people have questions about but never ask. Romanticize? If anyone reads this and thinks “Wow, I wish I could spend 44 hours in a FRP…
The NHL should just send “party packages” of chips and beer to any Nielsen households in the immediate vicinity to get them to stay home.
What are the rules here? Why are they so increasingly excited? I’m thinking that whenever there’s a run of successful flips, the person who ends the streak must take off the same number of items of clothing as the length of streak he broke. Or take that many shots. Or something. Am I close?
Wait.. this isn’t funny at all.
Hahaha
That’s pretty bad. In the Bay Area the French Laundry is synonymous not only with stellar food and service but with high prices. If I made someone take me there to settle a bet it would have been a) established beforehand or b) someone I didn’t want to be friends with. What a douche.
