But the thing is, Bernadette, that this didn’t just happen within a community—Clark county is just across the border from Portland, and since Oregon has no sales tax, a lot of Clark county residents go to Portland to shop. I’m localish, and the list of places the papers are putting out about the places that the exposed

Yup. That hotel chain encourages guests to take the penguins around the hotel for pictures (a.k.a. free advertising). This feels like SponCon coming from a celebrity.

We have a 21C hotel where I live (it’s fabulous), and the penguins are neon pink, and clean. I recognized it immediately.

Listen to yourself, love. In this case: re-read your own post. It very much sounds to me that you made up your mind firmly and with good reasoning. Best of luck! If I’m not very mistaken, you’re going to rock in that new job of yours.

I vote for staying put and taking the severance package. So long as the job market in your current area looks solid, you have the best excuse to be looking, as well as a bit of a cushion while you are searching.

You’re the only one who can do this job and their idea of incentive is CUTTING your pay??? How do you think they’ll treat you once you’re stuck in Arizona?

I’d stay. The only thing moving has going for it is a solid job that you don’t really like in a company that keeps losing its ass in a flashlight factory. The way the economy is now it shouldn’t be that hard to get a new job unless you’re in a really depressed area.

Given everything you've said, I'm voting for staying put.

Where exactly in Arizona? Phoenix is a huge mega city and some areas are liberal/ethnically diverse. I live in Tempe and it really isn’t that different than the very liberal states I’ve lived in before. The heat is a lot. The winters are lovely.

Right? That’s the part that made me decide that they don’t actually want us to take the offer to relocate. They’re going to be paying less as far as salary goes, but they’re going to be losing eight years of knowledge and experience when I go. It’s already a dumpster fire, and people haven’t even started officially

Oh fuck that then.

It kinda of sounds like your mind is made up and your company is a bit of a hot mess stage right now, BUT, if you do move to AZ, a couple points from someone who lives there:

I spent a week in Arizona recently and it was amazing. So so beautiful and delicious food and I will be back. However, I went in the winter because I hate the heat and also Phoenix kind of sucks. (I’m assuming the job is in Phoenix..) Will you get a pay raise? If not, it sounds like it’s maybe not worth it.

I wanted to make a Kris Kristofferson joke, but he actually WAS in Marvel superhero movies, and now I’m kind of sad he isn’t on the list.

Goddammit now I need chic parm.

I’m in bed and my girlfriend’s asleep, so I watched the clips with no sound. Which means the only audio cue I have is imagining Yackety Sax over that chase scene. You’re right - it’s perfect.

All you people in states waiting in line to vote: if you manage to flip anything, please do yourselves a favor and get vote by mail implemented.  I’m in Oregon, and any of us in the US states where vote by mail is how we vote can testify:  this is a far superior system.

Don’t worry... mine are Ginko (grey male) and Etta (black female). But I love the Edgar and Oscar combo -- I swear this is the first time I hear about this combo so in my book you’re totally original and awesome!

Are they litter mates? They’re gorgeous! I wish my cats loved each other.

Haha, they both just love you soo much. That’s so cute.
