Did anyone think that the end result was going to be anything other than similar pricing over time, and possibly paying more than once for access to some of the same shows from different services?

Same here. But we also had Sanalac instant powdered milk. My dad was retired from the Air Force, and would pick up certain items monthly at the Commissary at Hanscom AFB. It was cheaper.
I do so hope that someone’s job title is “Digital Fluffer” or “Digital Phallus Wrangler” in the credits.
There are regulations, but depending on the National Park, not always a lot of safety features. After all, there’s a limit to how much you can secure nature - it’s not like they can really build railings along the entire Canyon, or even along trails.
National Forests insulate visitors even less.
I was halfway expecting to see an email from the Times Square Anti-Semitic Elmo.
She’s clearly run out of obvious ways to maintain her relevance, so she’s decided that an ever-escalating litany of terrible pronouncements is the way to go. It’s only a matter of time before she takes hostages in an attempt to stay in the spotlight.
Not complain, because they had lower (reasonable) expectations?
Yeah. Some of it, I think, is consumer culture - it drives certain kinds of change very, very quickly, and it tends to be much of what people identify with.
Yup, and I have that same issue (as I noted elsewhere) with Gen Xers who only remember the 80s and not the 70s. VERY different childhood experiences.

Archibald Cox, Jr. had a son (b 1940) named Archibald, Jr. This could be that Archibald, Jr. There is also an Archibald Cox III, which I only know because he was in my class in college. Didn’t really know him, though. Apparently works as a horse trainer, not a lawyer.
Colbert could probably do it, but I doubt he would.
Robinson’s Starman, hands down.
I hope it comes with a pair of good compression socks so that someone doesn’t develop thrombosis while trying to watch it all in a marathon.
Ashley Bell, a former Democratic official hired recently to head the RNC outreach to African-Americans said “We are doubling down on the African-American vote”. Based on how that’s gone so far, I expect their support to be halved at 0.75% within weeks.
I believe that the IOC and FIFA are generally neck-and-neck in that race.
The only reason I have a 3D Samsung is that we needed a TV, it was an otherwise great set, and it was on an amazing Black Friday deal a couple of years back. We never did buy glasses or a 3D Blu-Ray player.
And let’s not forget that the estimate for lifelong care of a child born with microcephaly is more than $10 million.
