Can we explore the thinking behind naming an airline “Gotham Air”? I mean, given the image that Gotham has in the DCU, it’s not exactly a selling point. I mean, you just know that it’s going to be a grimy airplane and something weird and bad is going to happen.

It’s more than not landing on the decent opinion, they manage to stick the landing on the awful position EVERY TIME. This is Olympic-calibar Gymnastic Asshattery.

The Greens have a pretty miserable record at the State level as well. I don’t think they currently hold a single legislative seat. The Libertarians have managed a couple, at least.

My wife was elected to our local school board a couple of years ago. She had more votes cast for her in one election than anyone getting elected to the Lexington Town Meeting would get in two elections. She’s also been an educator for nearly 20 years, and has served as the Treasurer for one of the local youth sports

One of a number of representatives to the Lexington Town Meeting. Go take a look at their election results - winning candidates can have as few as 170 votes in their precincts. High vote-getters are up around 350. Glancing at a few years, it looks like most of those who run, get seats.

This is volunteering with a

Yup - she’s no more qualified than Trump. I may happen to disagree with her worldview less than his, but that doesn’t make her more qualified, merely far less odious.

Well, we could “allow” homeopathy, but under no circumstances should a penny of taxpayer dollars or insurance money cover it. It’s literally a placebo. It’s not even “alternative medicine”.

The way she hedges around it with the “there are questions” line reminds me of how climate change deniers make their arguments. Act like there’s a debate where there’s vast consensus. Same with the wifi / em sensitivity issue.

Using that line of argument just muddies the waters on a host of scientific debates.

Let’s face it - the fact that most of the symbolism and pomp around the thing was created for the 1936 games has left an indelible stink on the entire event, even if the public is somewhat unaware. I swear it’s helped insure that a certain type of person wants to be involved in running the event over the years.

I’d argue that any single person involved in the efforts I mentioned has done more.

Republican State legislators and governors around the country passing and signing burdensome voter ID laws?

If only there was some sort of quarantine that could seperate the carriers of EMV from the writers.

I have to wonder if CBS will want them to take a look at it later. One way of keeping production (salary) costs down is to move the time period every couple of seasons, and getting a new cast. Avoids those messy “the show is making a ton of money, we want more cash” conversations with the cast as the show goes on.

My kids - in NJ - root for the Jayhawks because their kindergarten teacher was a KU alum and would put stuff up every year for the NCAA basketball tournament.

Part-time legislature. Few states (only ten) have full-time legislatures.

Looks even worse when you get a shot of the whole stage. Getty Images has this one - it’s not photoshopped.

Baruch College (part of CUNY) is on the list, but they don’t have any residence halls. So, even with a large number of students, it’s a little less unbelievable in that specific case. A bunch of CUNY schools have very limited housing, so the number of students enrolled would be far higher than the number of

I knew we were in trouble a few years back when one of the canned food brands (Green Giant, maybe) had to add instructions to the cans of creamed corn. You know, pour it into saucepan and heat.

So yes, in that world, this counts as a recipe.

I’m siding with the insurance company on this one. And this just makes the NCAA two year “bowl ban” for PSU even more of a joke. In an ideal world, if they do have to pay, the insurer would be able to use subrogation to sue former University officials, Paterno’s estate, etc., but depending on PA law, insurance regs

From what was said at the time, she didn’t want it regardless at this point in her life and career. Given that she knew what the job would entail, I’d have to defer to her judgement, rather than ours . . .
