The Pagani is an excellent car, it's tradition is a Merc motor. That's great. Obviously it's what buyers of Paganis want. I'm simply stating I wouldn't want it in an Aston for more intangible reasons. Preference. It's not really debatable, is it?

Yes, i know you can get the V12 in any Ford Fiesta but still... it's somewhat tweaked for the Aston, isn't it?
Have a hard time with nuance, do you? I'm simply stating my opinion, if I were in the market, this may be a turn-off for me, depending on the final execution. I am not and, as I stated, I fully understand the Aston buyer may be fine with this.
True, they have been heading down this road a while now, however, the current v12 is bespoke relative to the more directly derivative AMGs they will move to. The point is, the v12 will be gone, and you will get a very powerful v8 turbo from mercedes, which will be a great engine, but is simply too boring for this…
Bespoke car. Non-bespoke engine. No thanks. Perhaps the Mercedes biturbo or 6.3 v8 would have been interesting but the route everyone is taking with smaller displacement turbo engines is not that interesting to me in this application. Perhaps the typical Aston buyer will be ok with a derivative merc motor. I wouldn't.
Screw being fair. They are trying to make a profit (something which they seem to be doing very well with the 911) which in case you didn't notice is not exactly easy for car makers these days.
It's simply damage control... a customer loyalty and PR thing. Porsche wouldn't do this if they thought it wasn't benefiting them in some way. Besides, if you had a $2000/mo car payment and the car was defective and in the shop for 3 months would you not want compensation for that? You are paying for something you…
Wow. This was like a 5 year old post. I guess you're preaching to the choir though, I'm still a fan of the LS engines... for all the reasons you list.
Well. I see you are a pleasant one. I never argued they don't work. But folks have the freedom to be dumb if they so desire. Are you dumb if you buy an older car without a camera? Do you have cameras on all your cars?
If you have OnStar and a camera is it that much of a leap to get to OnStar remotely accessing your camera feed under a federal subpoena? Or a blanket subpoena? I can even see why OnStar may want access to that feed to better assist in emergency situations so it seems somewhat plausible they could add that capability…
Who knows. Could be a step in enabling a surveillance state; the most fundamental component if you will. But I don't worry about that right now. The stupid thing about mandating this is the cost increase to the consumer. Cars are already ridiculously expensive, especially for something we treat as a disposable…
I'd be willing to trade you this for the lady, errr, the Morgan.
I'm guessing if the blogger didn't sign a contract with Ferrari then collection of that money would be impossible. The journalist may sue the blogger though for stealing his shit and causing him to have to pay $70,000.
No doubt. I would expect that on a car like this. It's the way they did it that looks cheap to me. Cut a whole in the bumper cover and insert a preformed piece... rather than integrating it into the bumper or pre-forming the cover with the duct in place.
This air duct bothers me. Why not integrate it better into the bumper cover?
I owned one in blue. Loved it. Very understated, sounded great, handled great... and I never had one issue with it. Sold it for an '06 GTO.
Everyone seems tired of Shelby these days but... still my favorite.
If only they could have set the rear wheels in just a little further. But yeah, if you avoid looking at that aweful stance and wheel/tire combo the body of the car actually pretty cool. Good news is, this can be solved.
True. They needed a NISMO and a TurboS (non-cab, 'cause extra weight). I predict the same result.
Surprising? Not really... but I also don't think many folks would have been surprised if the GT-R won either.
