Of course the profitability of GMC and Buick were factors but the brand itself, especially Pontiac, has real value to GM. This is how GM could have justified keeping Pontiac alive: future sales and brand value. Ultimately, however, they ran Pontiac into the ground with poor product investment so they've noone to blame…
