I realize it's a track focused car with some weight savings measures. I misunderstood the comment to imply there was 'ring specific track prep for this particular car (aside form r compound tires). Which is why I said "do you KNOW that".

7:41:27. How is that faster than 7:37:47? Me thinks you saw tenths as seconds?

"I'd say it was more like no sound-deading, the lightest speakers they could find (so the door ding would work), no carpet, and whatever the hell else they ripped out of it beat those engines."

Actually, putting it next to an Accord makes it look A LOT better.

It also started to sprinkle. I thought the car was remarkably composed throughout .

Regarding the weight, my thoughts exactly. I think it's an important distinction because 150lbs. is a significant increase for a performance package, imho. It also means it is ~250lbs heavier than a base C6. So yeah, great car but it did get a little porky.

I'm pretty sure men were actually better looking back then. Not in a metrosexual kind of way either.

Ah yes, I remember that. Well, he's no Nostradamus, now is he? Maybe, being kind, he's just like climate scientists and was only wrong in the rate of change... but not in the fact that change is inevitable.

Oh and this too... Mexico or Bust Focus RS!

Loved the Fantasy garage, anything on clownshoes, muscle and engine geek articles.

edit: double post

I read that and wondered if it was a serious question. As a society, do we just naturally look for fault outside of the individual?

China overtook the United States as the world's largest vehicle market in 2009, and it has been Porsche's second largest market globally, behind the US.

I think his original point is spot on. Journalists are touting the amazing acceleration and what they should be saying is that acceleration is on par with the previous generation, the C6. They seem overly giddy about the car and have lost a little bit of objectiveness.

The biggest downer to me is that the Z51 package adds 150 lbs! That's the killer. I think a base vette is actually the better drag car if that's what you're in to.

Exactly. The Ford FE and 385 motors (and others) have always been considered big blocks for the same reasons, taller deck, bigger bore spacing than the 260/289/302/351 small block Ford.

I'm starting to see more and more in my area. If 616 have sold in the land of horn hats and arctic tans, how many have sold in the US?

Oh, and one more thing. I think if I keep saying this it might irrationally come true...

I can't get over how much I love the rear versus how uninspired the front is. It's like Steve Jobs designed the butt and Chris Bangle designed the front.

3rd - Just dropped the bmw (my wife's) off for service this morning. It's there a lot. It's a finicky little bitch of a car. They've replaced the fuel pump, water pump, belt tensioner (twice and maybe a third time today, we'll see), oil level sending unit, thermostat (really? wtf?) and the windshield wiper cleaner
