Yeah, Mitchell was Kirk’s best friend from his teens and you get the feeling that losing him was a major emotional blow and probably the impetus for his forming a bond with Spock, who was completely unlike Mitchell. I hope Blue Beetle eventually gets another crack at a movie. It seems to be a well-made film on a decent budget, and probably would have done much better if the cast had been able to promote it.

Strange New Worlds is the most fun I’ve had watching a Star Trek thing in decades, so if they want to just roll over into a TOS quasi-reboot with Wesley’s Kirk at some point in the future, I’d be fine with it. This is a great cast.

Based on Blue Beetle’s box office performance, I wouldn’t hold my breath for a sequel.

There’s way too much going on here, and it’s easy to pick out the elements Snyder is stealing from other franchises. We’ve got actual lightsabers, some dude wearing LoTR armor in a field, a guy with an Avatar-esque connection to an animal, etc. I’ll watch, but expectations are super low.

So we have a chosen one called Skywalker Scargiver, living on Arrakis Tatooine some unnamed desert planet, there will be fights with lightsabers glowing swords, and epic battles against the Galactic Empire Space Fascists.

It has already balooned from one self contained movie to a giant 2 parter, which given Snyders track record is not a great sign!

I feel like I just watched a trailer for 4 completely separate movies squished together into one video.
