Your theory is flawed. More gear choices = faster, but lower rpms. I was getting 34 mpg, while going 85 mph in the new 428i, in 8th gear. I think I barely hit 2k rpms. With the older 6 speed automatic, you'd be close to 3.2k rpms at that same speed.

I guess to each their own. I don't dislike manuals, but it appears as if the manual purists dislike automatics and automatic drivers wholeheartedly on Jalopnik. Oh well, buy what makes you happy I suppose.

Don't know why so many here dislike the ZF8 gearbox. Every review I have read or seen says it doesn't make sense to even use manual gearboxes on these modern day cars. The idea is to shift fast, and focus on the road/track.

My cousin bought an xDrive for New Jersey when it starts to snow. I don't understand how you can compare a Subaru to a BMW xDrive. One is a luxury car, and the other is not, simple as that.
