Agreed about the single auteur point. That's my one fear going into the sequels… the prequels may have been terrible, but there's a certain purity to their weird incompetence that I have to respect. They're certainly far from generic, and I do appreciate that they tried new things.

I honestly like the idea of the droids appearing in every movie, just because I think they operate as a Greek chorus more than actual characters. They easily could have had both been the property of Padme, and commented on things from the sidelines of the story.

For me, the updated battle droid voices in ROTS tip it from "good" to "barely okay." Ewoks might have been a bad choice over Wookiees, but I think ROTJ is miles ahead of ROTS.
