My wife and I went moisanite. Still more expensive than glass obviously, but it's a hard stone with better radiance than a diamond, so I got to get her 1 karat in her favorite setting for a few hundred bucks. Looks great, won't get damaged and didn't cost an arm and a leg. I highly recommend it.
