Yup. 1st gear was pointless.
*Laughs in Russian*
I’m sure a stock 280 would be capable of law violations, but mine was a combination of down on power, a 4 speed, and running on smaller than stock tires so everything was slower. I also think the previous owner had swapped out the gears for autocross events. 0-60 never happened because I couldn’t quite reach 60…
You’re correct. I tried so hard to put myself in their mindset I even fucked up ‘your’ and ‘you’re’
I don’t disagree, top speed dick measuring is more useless. My point was what does it matter if your car can do 0-60 in 3.0 seconds vs 2.5? Is your typical Aventador owner going to notice the half second difference when the only thing he’s using it for is to smoke M3s and Corvettes at stop lights when he drives it…
Awesome car, but Jesus that thing needs some effort.
See my previous reply to Garrett
Yup. End of the day 0-whatever times only matter in drag racing, and the purpose built cars are just waiting for tire technology to catch up to their thousand hp engines.
Yikes. Do you have the competence to rebuild it yourself?
You’re absolutely right, although I’d wager that during said apocalypse the regulations regarding DOT approved tires will be lightened up significantly.
That’s another good point. I loved my 280Z because I could put the pedal through the floor and go to redline every shift and still not have to worry about cops because oh look that 70 year old man in a Buick just passed me.
I actually have no issues with Iowa. If I ever find myself there I’ll keep it in mind. I’ll also keep my windows up. And keep the window lock on. And probably not go there in general.
Absolutely the advances are constant, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see motorsports being the catalyst for breakthroughs. My biggest point was why does it matter if I can go from 0-arrested in 2.14637 seconds?
Seriously, my 540 gets to 60 in high 5 seconds and it’s way faster than I could care for. The important numbers are the 50-80 and 20-70 type figures for passing on the highway or showing off on the onramp.
I heard it a lot in Kentucky when people were arguing about the Ford/Chevy/Dodge truck rivalry. Seriously guys, nobody cares that your Dodge can tow 200lbs more than his Ford or that your Chevy has 3 more ft pounds of who gives a fuck than her DodgIdon’tcareanymore. There were people who actually used their trucks for…
Just in case I needed another reason not to go to Iowa.
So what your saying is YouTube commentors?
The real issue is the traction limit for current street legal tires. If the near future holds a massive breakthrough in tire compounds that allow for much more grip on rubber that you can also drive on the road without peeling up the asphalt as you go, we could potentially see a big improvement in acceleration times.
I need to ask. What’s up with the Q45?
