Exactly. If anything, the bigotry can get way worse in rural New England. Those areas are both far less diverse, and far, far less affluent than the cities and college towns that have given the region it’s deep blue reputation nationally.

The requests may be more of an optics thing. This way they can say, honestly, “Well, we tried to play nice like the GOP asked, but now we have no choice but to haul everything and everyone in front of committees for public hearings under subpoena. Our hands are tied.”

It was his lead-in to talk about “feeling comfortable being uncomfortable” and yeah, while I don’t think he intended it as a jab, it’s hard not to take it as a thumb in the eye to those of us lacking in the raw talent and/or luck to make it outside the 9-to-5 workday life.

That is literally how pre-school teachers deal with 4-year-olds. Just once can something coming out of this dumpster fire of an administration not be a colossal embarrassment, unmitigated disaster, crime-against-humanity, or all of the above?
