And the writing got bad really quickly—I think in the middle of season 2 I realized I was hate-watching the show rather than merely watching it. Lafayette was the only consistently solid part on the show, and it was because Ellis’s talent could take the worst line and deliver it with such flair it was sold.

It’d be nice if they’d just kill Will Arnett’s vanity show, Flaked. It was dreadful the first season, and really just seemed like GOB Bluth trying to justify why Amy Poehler divorced him.

The reboot of One Day at a Time was quite good, btw. Full of Lear’s working-class sensibilities, nice nods to the original series, and the new cast is phenomenal.
