Same here and I've rarely stopped playing a RPG, but I have given up on FF 6, 7, 9, and 10.

I have older favourite games, but since you mentioned ps1, one that comes to mind is bushido blade 2. That game was so enjoyable, it's like old school dark souls with the "organic" sword fight feel :)
