Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'd rather they do all the unpacking, removal of stickers and wrappers and do a COMPLETE paint-correction on that filthy exterior first..... Seeing a McLaren this way is kind of like going on a date with a supermodel, but you arrive too early and she's still clipping her toenails...

Personally, I like it better when they also have a small video running in the corner showing the speedometer flinging the needle during the pass.... a vanishing Lambo filmed from a tripod doesn’t really convey speed very well... I do like all the squirming as it heads down the track though!

Good for you for fixing it on the cheap. But Caveat Emptor.... my E55 had TWO batteries (one for the SBC braking system) and a starting battery. When the alternator dies, you lose brakes.... I found out and was stranded on the highway outside of Boston. It still amazes me that a car as sophisticated as a Mercedes does…

Protect the “money side” (aka. drivers side) by finding an end-spot, far away from civilization....preferably with a small cement curb that you can snuggle up to. If you get THAT close to the curb, you should have ample room on the opposite side to avoid damage.

I think it’s a toss-up. the 1998 and 1999 had the weaker spider gear setup (single cross shaft vs. dual IIRC)... but they did have the manual rear locker. Of course, for those inclined to “modify” there is a substantial aftermarket for the LC....(as I suspect you already know) ;)
