I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly that happened, and Jimmy's advice to Ray was wonderful (I think a lesser show might have dragged that plot out for at least half a season, by having Ray turn to the other family members and Kenneth for help with schemes or grand gestures to win the girl over :p ).

Holy Farts! So happy about LMOE; I think it definitely deserves a chance to end on its own terms, especially after that s.3 finale. :D

That was cute, but yeah, I thought the sudden appearance of that dog in the DiMeo house was hysterical — especially since just last week Kenneth had settled Jimmy and Maya's long-standing argument over whether she should have a dog. :D

First of all, I must say I loved the music cues in this episode:
The New Pornographers, "Dancehall Domine" — cold-open time-lapse montage
The restaurant band playing the Ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop" (at Jimmy's request, natch)
The Crystals, "Then He Kissed Me" — Jimmy/JJ hospital tracking shot (which I'm guessing was meant

Nice way to tie this episode to the two before it. :) To go back a little further, I've noticed in this whole recent run of episodes kind of a neat progression from leaning heavily on JJ's resourcefulness and autonomy (his solo joyride and teaching his little brother a lesson in "Surprise," and his handling of a

I know, right? :\ (Three of my other favorites I don't remember getting coverage here: Hurray for the Riff Raff's 'The Navigator,' Valerie June's 'The Order of Time,' and Rhiannon Giddens' 'Freedom Highway'…)

1. The dad is my fave, but I love Ray too. While he can have his selfish and self-righteous moments, deep down he really is a good kid with a good heart. :)

Same here. :) He can fire off deadpan-snarky one-liners with the best of them, but I've been even more impressed with his handling of quieter, more dramatic moments.

Well put — I think over the course of this season, the show has done a pretty decent job of making Kenneth his own man and filling us in on who he is (and was) outside the DiMeo family. (Even in "The Club," he once called JJ out for sometimes forgetting that he has a life outside of him.) :)

Aww, I would LOVE to see her with him again! <3

Yup — the dad goes by "James" on his work ID badge, plus Maya has called him that at least once. :)

I just took all 3 kids being at the Prom as yet another example of the school's fixation on "inclusion"… :\

I'm rather pleased with her development so far; she could've just been a stereotypical loudmouth jock / bully, but the show, especially in the latter half of the season, has done a wonderful job of exploring her relationships with each member of her family: She idolizes her mom's fierce advocacy for JJ, to the point

For some reason my post got deleted (was it too long, or did I get flagged for quoting from the review, or what?), so let me try again…

According to the press release for the next episode (1x20, "Runaway," airing 4/26), we're supposed to get a little background on his past, particularly his having been a high school athlete (and Dylan taking an interest in that). :)

Aww! :)

Sled Hockey would definitely make my Top 10. :) (It's being rerun next week.) Ray and Dylan's conflict over the crawlspace was hilarious, and I thought it was so touching to see Jimmy's protective side come out at the mere thought of JJ possibly experiencing any more physical pain than his CP has already caused him.

Yup — after this one, there are only four new ones left for the season. :(

Jimmy is my favorite, with Kenneth not far behind; too bad they don't get to interact with each other more often, but their interactions with each of the kids are sweet and fun. :) (Maya is my least-favorite by default, but I still like her a lot — I thought she was especially awesome in "Road Trip," with her medical

Well, the next new episode, which won't be for another couple weeks. In the meantime, we're supposed to get reruns of "Sled Hockey" (which, fittingly, also had a Maya/Kenneth team-up) and "Valentine's Day." :\
