I think they're both just so damn cute, and I love when the show explores their marriage ("Halloween" was so sweet, "Sick Day" was a pleasant surprise, and I loved the bit of backstory we got in "Valentine's Day"); you can tell it's a real partnership, and they genuinely love each other. <3

Absolutely. :) It makes sense that the wheelchair costumes are the one thing he feels he's especially good at — it's likely the one area of his life where he gets to use skills similar to his field of study.

The way that scene played out, I thought it was kind of interesting that JJ wasn't home yet when the conversation started; but then he popped in, caught a bit of it (particularly Maya expressing doubt that he could ever realistically live on his own) and left before the rest of the family noticed him. It definitely

Cool! :) I go by GRChereck.

I definitely hope this show takes after The Middle; that show has been excellent with callbacks, continuity, and running gags (the quilt in the oven still makes me giggle), and has done an extraordinary job of letting its characters deepen and grow while generally keeping them true to themselves. :)

I certainly hope so. :) Though I didn't start posting there until the Valentine's Day episode, I went back and commented on each of the previous eps (except possibly the Pilot) in addition to the newer ones.

Good picks. :) There's some overlap with my Top 5 (so far):

Beautiful write-up! I've been watching and loving this whole season, but I thought this was easily my favorite episode since "Sick Day" back in January; just as that one basically took a standard-sitcom plot (family gets sick) and used it to explore the characters' familial roles and contributions as well as the

My sentiments exactly. :p As much as I liked Dratch on SNL, her character here was just obnoxious.

Suddenly Mary (I had that song in my head as I watched the episode) :)

Ah, I love that song, and I really liked her version.

Good list. Besides Williams, Cantrell and Presley, I'd also add Rodney Crowell, Rosanne Cash, Emmylou Harris, Lee Ann Womack, Ashley Monroe and Brandy Clark.

I got around to seeing 'Frozen' a month ago, on Thanksgiving during a Starz preview. At first it seemed a bit slight for something that wasn't just a hit movie but a full-on cultural phenomenon; but I DVR'd it anyway and ended up watching it again on Christmas. The sister relationship, as well as "Do You Want to Build

'It's Always Sunny' was one of my discoveries this year too — I've already seen all of the first three seasons, part of season 4 (there's still 4 or 5 eps I haven't seen), all but the first three episodes of season 5, pretty much all of season 6, and all but the last three episodes of season 7. Funny stuff, almost

"Casting Moore as a homeless version of herself makes no kind of sense…"

I agree — Squibb's GFY to Dern's family would've been a great Oscar clip, but I can see how it probably would've been too much of a spoiler.

Yup, 'Damsels in Distress' is one that I finally got to see. :)

Cool. I was already familiar with 'Twin Peaks' (which my sister watched when it first aired), 'Lost Highway' (rented on video when my high school economics teacher recommended it), 'The Straight Story' (another video discovery) and 'The Elephant Man' (on Turner Classic Movies) — but it wasn't until this year that I

As soon as I saw this headline, the first thing I thought of was the film 'Pieces of April' — besides the stuffing, April (Katie Holmes) stuck a whole onion and two big stalks of celery into the bird; and of course, she prepared it without first checking to make sure her oven worked, so she had to go around to
