Originally, they hiked the prices for everyone. After reservation holders freaked out, the company crawfished and stated that pre-March 1, 2022 orders would be sold at the price at which they were reserved. I ordered Dec 1, ‘21, the vehicle I am getting for $77k would be $92k today (before fed tax rabate). They have

They’ll sell a dual-motor version that takes 4 seconds to 60, and saves you $6k.

My 1S is replacing my 2011 Cayenne with 155k miles on it, which will probably be close to 170k before the Rivian arrives. Nothing on the market compares to the “Swiss Army Knife” uses of the Rivian. My wife’s Q7 is close, but not nearly as cool. My reservation was prior the price hike, so I feel like I’m playing with

Ya know, for the same money you could have a Rivian R1T that is faster, more useful, and doesn’t require its own dedicated oil wells to stay on the road. Also has a frunk.

a restaurant hostess saw my Cayenne fob and asked “is your car key… the shape of a car?” in the most insulting way imaginable. It’s still cool to me, dammit.

And those are 33" tires.

I’ve since read this possible/plausible explanation elsewhere. If it’s the case, Toyota should put that in all caps on the press release. “We’re not lazy there’s a reason, actually...”

The Lexus LX600 - built on this same platform - has a fold-flat 3rd row. I am so mystified by this decision. Couldn’t borrow the Lexus engineers’ notebooks?

But I have sold just as many.

My anecdotal experience with the current market is that used luxury cars are appreciating slower. I looked at everything from a Tahoe to a Telluride before discovering there is actually some value to be found in an Audi Q7 or Mercedes GLS (I just got a 2017 Q7 that originally stickered for $74,100 for $35k with 60k

Bet your ass it’ll happen. I rented a new 2021 Tahoe last week for a beach trip. 600 miles from home a warning message flashed “Service Safety Restraint System.” Further research shows that this potentially disabled the airbags, due to a wire being too short under the driver’s seat (adjusting the seat likely loosened

Did a search to see whatever happened to the long-lost FMC Corporation... OH WOW THEY’RE DOING JUST FINE

I bought one after reading that comment in the Hertz thread. It’s still in the Amazon box but I’m gonna use it one day.

...what is your point? Unless your conclusion is that he faked it, what does the ability to remove the airbag with tools have shit-all to do with this situation?

We lost power for 3 days, which caused me to research whole-home generators. I calculated that 15kW would power my entire home. This truck can do 9.6kW - plenty enough to alternate between HVAC & fridge.

My 2011 (V6) has been more reliable than my wife’s Lexus RX350. In 10 years it’s needed: a new water pump @ 75k; a thermostat @ 90k; an air conditioner blower motor @ 100k; one (1) set of brake rotors; one (1) battery - the original battery lasted 9 years.

For the first time in my life I am in the market for a new Yukon - and for the first time in my life they don’t start with $10,000 on the hood. God. Dammit. The higher-trim Sierras still have $10k off, but not the SUV’s.

Any idea how much cargo room there is behind the 3rd row?

I saw this spec in person driving and it looks like something out of The Fifth Element, in a good way. Made me feel like I was driving a horse & buggy.

$100,300 - what’s funny is that only people on this site would know every purchase price of every car. I just rattled off my 7 purchases from age 16-31 with no hesitation.
