I feel like Iron Man 3 was the last time MCU tried anything ballsy and after that reaction to it, they pretty much just defaulted to giving the masses exactly what they wanted.

In a way, Winter Solider, GotG, Civil War, Infinity War, and Black Panther are all far less subversive films than Iron Man 3 was.

If you want to get really cynical, Tony Stark having significant character development and status quo shakeups in his solo series only for all of it to get completely shat on by some other writer who just wants to make a big dumb crossover event, is actually peak Marvel Comics.

My son was six when this came out and had seen some of the other movies at home, but got a little freaked out by some of the scarier scenes, so I didn’t take him to this one either. I saw it, drove home, told him and my wife to get dressed, and drove right back to the theater with them. I watched him instead of the

“Every element of an intellectual property exists together in a delicate balance. As a franchise, you need to understand that balance and pander to all potential customers, from the tiny child to the jaded thirtysomething.”

“I’m not crying because I’m sad about the break-up, I’m crying because his eyes look just like my eyes.”

Yeah, that and when she asks Coulson about the bomb he attaches to the door of Stane’s lab “Oh, wow! What’s that? It’s, like, a little device? It’s, like, a thing that’s going to pick the lock?”

He says something along the lines of “sometimes I remember it this way, sometimes I remember it another way.” So yeah, he’s quite possibly lying. Or it’s possible even he doesn’t know.

I actually don’t like most of The Killing Joke, but that part is great. You can never trust the Joker to be honest with you, even when

Buddy Holly’s hologram was quoted as saying “This time I’m taking the bus.”

I really warmed up to Cat after her confession to Talisa about Jon—that when he was an infant he fell sick and could’ve died, and she prayed to the gods for his recovery. She promised that she would love him as her own and that she would implore Ned to legitimize him and give him the name Stark. Only she couldn’t keep

Cate Blanchett was A) so good and B) so incredibly hot that I audibly gasped.

“You got all that out of ‘Apple Man’?”

Julie Andrews voicing a Lovecraft sea monster was the second best batshit insane thing in Aquaman. She'll always be second place to that drum playing octopus.

Yeah, most overweight people wouldn’t know that they’re overweight and that’s unhealthy without people, especially strangers, stopping them on the street and telling them they need to lose weight. And of course we all know how incredibly easy it is to lose weight. If you don’t harass people, how will they ever change?

Wayne’s World is a perfect movie. Every scene is funny and full of random flourishes (multiple endings), cinematic devices (focus pulls) and vignettes (Garth drum solo) that is clearly the work of an incredible director. There’s a reason why the sequel wasn’t nearly as good.

What are these good things he’s been doing that make “likely sex cult” seem like not that big a deal?

Damn son, are you trying to beat the charges or get confirmed to the Supreme Court?
