I’ve worked in sustainable design for 10 years, and refrigerants haven’t changed whatsoever. Even in the US, we’re using 410A on Class A buildings, which is completely unacceptable. HVAC manufacturers are not innovating whatsoever, and have done very little since the outlawing of CFCs in 1992.

Your parenthetical is exactly why I have and use one.  I don’t have anything with a screen in my kitchen, so I use it for recipes and to voice control stuff when my hands are full.

There is a very specific website that I use professionally that literally only runs on IE.  It upsets me to my very core that I have to use it, but I use it every day.

An article that serves to answer people’s cleaning questions simply saying “don’t make a mess” feels a little unhelpful, no?

How are we still applying the cost of a console internet connection to one game in 2020? Do we not live in a society?

Agreed. I don’t think Beyond and Impossible are that close on the spectrum between prototypical veggie burgers and ground beef burgers, and I don’t think they should be lumped together here.

What kind of battery life are you looking for?  My headphones last for 30 hours, and I’ve completely gotten ride of the wired stuff. It seems like the problem you’re presenting has already been solved as well.

I haven’t seen that reported anywhere, can you clarify? It seems like it’s a hardware capability of the device transmitting the signal, so how would the streaming service be affected?  Seems like they’d be sending the same bandwidth, with the extra load placed on the hardware.

I switched to a camera that takes XQD cards a while back, so there’s no chance I can go without dongles, which has colored my perception. I can see how that would be annoying for a more established I/O, and you’re right, I’m sure it could be fit.

What line of work are you in? I’ve got a handful of pro photographer friends that use Mac with an SD reader dongle, and haven’t heard complaints. Seems like the loading and offloading of SD cards is a short-ish part of the workflow that doesn’t necessarily need to be built into the machine. Curious to hear your Read more

People consume many videos in the native resolution and orientation of the devices they hold. 9:16 is a pretty common aspect ratio for a lot of types of content, and even the only aspect ratio for some, like Instagram stories.

I have all three types of devices and have to disagree with you. In terms of specific tasks that the tablet replaces, it’s more likely that they’re traditionally computer tasks as opposed to phone tasks, so I’d put tablets closer to laptops on the spectrum.  Read more

Point #3 is the most obvious indicator that something is going to be disappointing if your expectations are off. Going into a buying decision with the idea that a 250 dollar device is going to replace a 1200 dollar device without having any significant compromises is pretty bananas.

You spelled “Vitamin E Acetate” wrong, which absolutely should be regulated or at least investigated way more based on the CDC’s report. That isn’t weed though, and this change to the legal age for tobacco products is not related to that at all. I believe this law was initially drafted in 2015, based on that NYT Read more

But many of those other countries you’re referencing (we can single out a specific country if you’d like) have higher smoking rates per capita than the US as is, so I’m not sure that the logic transfers from drinking to smoking here.
