Just look at how all the greats have treated clay in their career. They tend to skip it. You’re hanging on a thread here.

Not saying he’s bad. He’s great. I’m just saying this is a beat thread to use to try and loop deadspin readers into tennis. Barely a peep on the renaissance of the world’s best tennis player (Federer) and at the expense of his arch-nemesis on the court (Nadal). It’s the side Giri took (Nadal over Fed) that has me

If Nadal was as good at tennis as say Federer is as at tennis or as good as basketball as the Lebron is, I would understand the story line being crafted here. But he’s just not that good - even on clay. He lost to Thiem this month. And he lost to Sam Querrey in the finals (on hardcourt) this year!

Giri, given how in the bag you are for Nadal, what kind of posts can we expect if/when he loses?

Not that they’re the exemplar of anything, but this fact was completely ignored on Sportscenter this morning. Seems significant to not even make mention of.

Unclear which generation she’s referring to though. Sort of a funny inclusion.

He was flying. Motorcycles are menaces on roads in general as well. You’re sure to disagree but it’s true.

Root cause: biker in the HOV lane and looks to be flying. His fault plain and simple.

Hey, he promised. I’m convinced.

Don’t get trolled so easily. Are YOU new around here?!

Ken M-esque.

If it can be said that no rookie deals today contain that language, is there knowledge of at least one deal that does?

Many people, myself included, expected Sharapova to receive at least a wild card to the qualifying round, which would have allowed her to play her way into the main draw.

Ya. And the Mets are on pace to see that ROI. Whereas, Beltran is gone and didn’t help the Giants, at least Wheeler would have been able to help their depleted pitching staff today (see Mad Bum). Giants have nothing to show for that trade today. The Mets have a nice pitcher with a lot of potential.

Are you suggesting a lose lose for each team? I can’t tell what your point is.

TL; DR - he’s still killing people with speed but his control is off. 9th inning against the Cubs two weeks ago illustrated this point pretty well.

Rafa should have been DQ’ed from Madrid. Who gets a match pushed back a day because of an ear ache?

Fake.

Elected? Dude, you’re not that naive.

Technically, less than half. But who’s counting? Not you! Facts are fake news, right?
