Pretty confident it is an exceedingly rare occasion that they don’t. But they can’t be everywhere at every time.

This is a tough one to fit”

I want a large vehicle with good gas mileage that’s reliable and $25k or less.”

Get an Avalon hybrid and get your plywood delivered. Everything else should fit.

Well you can ask me questions, I’m here! haha

Im going to put on my full thinking hat here for a second

The Toyobaru was by FAR the most underwhelming car I have ever test driven. So disappointing. Great chassis, OK interior, and engine that simply did not have any interest at all in playing along at all. It just wanted to be bolted to a CVT in a commuter-mobile.

A “well-caffeinated commuter box” (brilliant and perfect description) is exactly what the GTI has always been intended to be, no more, no less. And it does that better than anything else on the planet. If you had more expectations than that, that is your problem, not VWs.

How un-American.

It’s almost as if ... get this ... using an automobile inside a city core is a bad idea in the first place

Road and Track just did a great article for their “performance car of the year” the mk8 GTI was in the group along with the new BRZ and GR86. The GTI lapped the track a full 3 second faster than both of the twins.

I think it’s more for the clicks on the submission side. Our expectations are already really low on delivery...I don’t even bother to check it. I do enjoy debating the question in comments though.

Chevy SS. I’m not sure how you make a 400+ hp affordable sedan so unappealing, but GM managed it. The designers of the exterior and interior should have been fired before the vehicle was ever released. What a joke.

Pretty much every old car. My uncle owns a hot rod Fairlane that he spent decades keeping perfect and it is still a pretty quick car. I grew up thinking those 60s/70s muscle cars were the fastest things ever and always had some nostalgia for 80s GMs after my dad got rid of his Camaro in favor of a car that fits a 3rd

No personal experience, but I remember in the day reading somebody’s review (MT? C&D?) of the Saturn ION and saying it was the most disappointing “all new” car intro they’d driven in decades.

Kind of a weird left field one, but the Buick Regal Sportback - I had high hopes for a Euro-derived big hatchback with decent power, but between ridiculously light steering and a transmission that wasn’t thrilled at letting you use all that much of the power on tap. It’s kind of a shame both because these were really

Way underpowered considering the cars John DeLorean has previously helped develop.
