I’ve always preferred the term “Artificial Reckoning”.

Interesting about taking the tax write off. Makes me surprised Tax fraud isn’t one of the charges. While I can conceivably see the other charges failing to stick, that one seems like a shoe in if they took the write off.  Though I’d imagine the penalty for that is a rather paltry sum, relatively speaking

I think that’s the thing, she *definitely* did what they are accusing her of doing. There is, however, some grey area in whether what they are accusing her of doing actually breaks the laws in question, which is what the jury would have to decide. Bribing a coach at a private college to say he recruited your daughter

I actually sort of want to see this play out in court, and wouldn’t be all THAT surprised if she ends up getting off. AFAIK it’s only money laundering if the other charges stick. (The money exchange has to be in payment for something “illegal” for it to need laundering. If the actions involved with the money don’t

The absolutely bizarre thing is those outfits look more... pixel art... than the actual sims game. Stick a sims character in one of those screenshots and it’s clothing would look far more “real”.

Probably a BA in political science or any other social “science”.

Not really. I would assume a similar tax by any other country would be fine. The issue is that the whole point of the embargo is to starve the Cuban government of finances, and giving them 20% of the signing bonus (maybe, if the baseball federation really is part of the government) and xx% of their ongoing salary in

I don’t know, if they’re going to add for cash time-savers, I’d prefer them to be marketed at me. That way I know they exist and that whatever problems with advancement the game has aren’t just accidental, but rather an intentional attempt to double charge me, and thus I should assume all future games will be

Seriously, how much harder is simply moving the decimal 1 place over and then doubling THAT by 2 to get to 20%?

Restorative Justice? I disagree that “Restoration” is the goal. Especially for a crime like this where there is no singular victim. Deterrence is. If sending these folks to prison for a year makes some other rich asshat decide against bribing a school official to get his son in, mission accomplished. (Though,

I’m actually sort of surprised. While what these parents did was abhorrent, I was googling the charges, and from my armchair lawyering I was unconvinced they would actually be found guilty.

Every time I read about how much time and money goes in to doing full voice for a game like this, I can’t help but think as I button through the conversation after reading the text...

I’d be more inclined to argue the homophobe is more of the “I don’t want them to be officially recognized”. point of view. Which merely has the “not enjoy the same civil rights” as a side effect. If it’s not recognized->doesn’t exist->don’t have to fear it/”catching” it.

fwiw, we don’t know when he started abusing his power.

Copyright/trademark No, but you can sure as heck get a design patent on them.

A month in jail and over 5 weeks of full time community service for a lot of racist graffitti? Not sure if that’s in-line or not. Presumably depends on how expensive it was to clean up. (Though one would suspect a good chunk of said community service WAS the cleanup.  Not sure if that figures into the damage estimates.

As long as it doesn’t involve gambling for stuff, pretty much any type of RMT (other than exp booster type stuff*) is fine with me. If I feel it’s worth the money, I’ll buy it. If I feel it isn’t I won’t.

Eh, I expect for some people the difference between $989k and $549k isn’t really worth haggling over.

You seem to misunderstand how pre-existing conditions work. Not entirely uncommon.

TLDR: Surgeon is saying the damage done is inconsistent with a chokehold. Regardless of how the officer may have been hanging onto the suspect/victim he didn’t apply enough force for it to actually be choke hold.
