Never read the book so I had no idea Miyazaki’s film was that different from what it was based on. But I don’t know if I’d want to see another version seeing as how much I already love what we got from Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. If they got the right people involved, then I’d be interested in seeing it. Though I do

I’m here for all the Mad Men references. Loving it.

Unlike the yoga girl who couldn’t name a woman, no one would be faulted for not being able to answer that Coulter question.

Another reason to love “Dennis” Villeneuve — for changing David’s life and helping to get him where he is today. David used the same adjectives I’ve heard said about Denis time and time again: “warm,” “tender,” and “kind.”

For the people who aren’t interested in this film because of 1) the books/prior film or 2) Denis Villeneuve, I wonder what they thought of the trailer and if it will put them in theater seats in October.

This “civilians going to space” thing seems like it’ll be the new climbing Mount Everest for rich people.

That explains why more and more famous people are trying to get into the alcohol biz. I’d read not long ago about Conor McGregor selling his whiskey brand for a buttload of money. And obviously George Clooney made a killing with Casamigos.

When there’s a chance for big money to be made, apparently it is too much to ask.

That was a different episode centered around I think a Halloween one(?).

Empire State of Mind would have been the perfect cliche answer, especially given that he is vying to be mayor of a city that’s a concrete jungle where dreams are made of (though in my mind, thanks to 30 Rock, I’ll always hear “concrete bunghole where dreams are made up. There’s nothing you can do.”)

Some people, no matter how talented and funny, just weren’t meant for the SNL world, especially during Kristen’s tenure as you mentioned.

Agreed. One of my favorite episodes was the one where Alex and Dave try to coach Max when he entered the gay pageant.

Exactly. I didn’t even realize she had done four seasons. I thought it was at most three seasons (with hardly much to do).

I'll have to watch it sometime. I've only seen Edgar Wright's Cornetto trilogy.

Lorne missed out by letting her go after such a short stint on SNL (Abby Elliott is another one who could also be mentioned). Luckily Casey’s gone on to do better things while SNL just seems stale and unfunny most of the time.

I admit I have yet to see Baby Driver, so I’m not qualified to answer.

I’m happy that Jon Bernthal’s career has really flourished after The Walking Dead. He had a guest bit in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, so I wouldn’t mind seeing him in some more comedy roles.

Thanks for that info; that’s something interesting I hadn’t known about. Makes sense then now as you said. It’s been a minute since Miyazaki’s last nomination for The Wind Rises, so when he is able to finish and release How Do You Live? I’m sure it’ll be nominated and the Academy will continue with presenting him

That crossed my mind too. But it felt unnecessary and weird since he’s not been presented that way at the Oscars before. I was thrown off first by her saying Miyazaki, then second her awkward pronunciation of Hayao.

Reese Witherspoon presenting the animated awards and calling Hayao Miyazaki, "Miyazaki Hi-YOW" was not great. It would be weird to me if the teleprompter put his last name first like that.
