Yep! Fences is awesome, seems like it should have been something built into the OS in the first place.

The first computer I ever used was an original Apple ][ back in 1978 or so at the ripe old age of 10. Completely changed my life and set me on my career path, been using them ever since. Woz and Bill Budge have been my computing heroes ever since, would love to meet them!
Ohhh, that's awesome. Thanks for sharing!
The ability to send them an initial backup on an external device is definitely an advantage, I think CrashPlan offers something similar. Been taking digital photos since 2000, it would weeks if not months to upload 'em all :O
Oh man...same here. CompuServe, 1985-86, at $6/hour 300 baud. Parents weren't too thrilled with the bills, but what a ride that was. MegaWars!
Terrific post, Alan! Very thorough, everything's covered from why to journal to how to do it across multiple platforms and formats. Terrific suggestions in the comments, too.
Thanks! :) Krull was great back then and was pretty imaginative despite the obvious comparisons to other sword & sorcery movies at the time. I remember playing a Vectrex in a store somewhere, and mind = blown. Parents said no way, since we already had 2600. D'oh!
Merlin was also great! I remember playing that as well and having fun with it, plus didn't it have quite a few built-in games?
Mine still works for the most part as well, but I've noticed similar problems...always afraid to mess with it too much. Wonder what they're worth now?
I LOVE the fact that games I grew up with in the 70s through the 90s are more popular than ever and still playable on multiple platforms. Anyone else have one of these back in the day? They were portable, had cartridges, and rocked 16x16 LCD screens :D Can't recall seeing an emulator before, but I'm sure it'd be…
Yep, same here. $5 for 20GB is absurdly great, but bumping up to 100GB is pretty much a no-brainer :D
Awesome, the timing of this is perfect. Thanks for the heads-up, Melanie!
Seriously. Kirk will never be topped, the guy was my hero as a kid growing up on TOS in the 70s, still holding out for a chance to meet Shat someday! :D
That's a great deal on the Anker charger, definitely grab it if you've been considering buying one. I bought the Astro E4 for travel use last year, and can't believe how long that thing holds power to charge multiple devices.
Race, age, and sex cards all played in one post. You seem like a genuinely nice person, but are projecting the very same responses that you accuse me of. Ah, well...'tis today's Internet. I miss the more intellectual days of BBS and CompuServe.
Speaking of Harlan's comics, here he is showcasing his collection in the 90s. A bit creepy the way he leads that poor girl around blindfolded to the secret stash.
Did you ever see the old 1993-98 Sci-Fi Channel (NOT "SyFy," ugh) show "Sci-Fi Buzz"? He was frequently interviewed. Pretty much bashed everything and made fun of people, but that what he's always done, haha.
Agreed! Such a rich universe to explore, there could be SO many more stories to tell. The fact that there's an entire group of people under the fog in NYC as well as a few alien species to interact with makes one wonder how many additional films could be possible.
1. You attacked first, then whine about it and call people names. Nobody's angry and responding out of pure emotional outburst but you. Just like a child does when caught writing on the wall with crayons.
Saw them driving through Arizona one time as well, you are right that you never forget spotting one!
